A new website offering a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on sexual health and contraception in Wolverhampton has been launched.
Safer sex, contraception and advice about sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, as well as more general advice and information are just some of the topics covered on the new dedicated sexual health website.
The website has been launched by Embrace, Wolverhampton’s Sexual Health and Contraception service. Embrace provides free and confidential sexual health services in Wolverhampton, including all types of contraception, STI testing and treatment, and sexual health information and advice.
Dr Radhika McCathie, Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine, for The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, said “This website will play a valuable role helping people to see at a glance what sexual health services are available locally to them and how and when they can access services, as well as providing useful information and advice.”
Councillor Paul Sweet, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said “The website is a great resource; it’s been designed so that the information is relevant to a variety of age groups. It gives people the opportunity to gain accurate and quality information on all aspects of sexual health. We know that accessing sexual health services can be a daunting thought, but we hope that the website will help put people's minds at rest and make people aware of what is available locally.”
Embrace is also encouraging members of the public to give their feedback on the new website.
Dr McCathie added “We are asking for people to provide us with feedback on our new website, as we are always looking to improve and develop our services. This ranges from the way the website looks to the information provided on it.
Anyone wanting to provide feedback can get the service’s contact details from the new website.”
In addition to the website, one central telephone number for anyone wishing to make an appointment at any of the clinics across the city has also been launched. This will not only make it easier but it also means that patients have access to a number of clinics to book an appointment.
Anyone needing to contact the sexual health and contraception services provided by Embrace - which is confidential and open to all - can do so by ringing 01902 444444 or can access further information at www.embracewolverhampton.nhs.uk.
